Work With Your Own Organising Style

Have you ever spent hours organising a space to find that you struggle to keep it that way? Or you delay getting things done as you don’t really enjoy the process of getting organised?

While getting your home organised can be as dreaded a task as cleaning, it doesn’t have to be this bad.

Find your style.

There are some people who just love to organise and thrive on having everything in it’s place. Then there are those who are happy to ignore the clutter and life goes on around it. Then there is everyone else in between.

If you prefer to stack your paperwork into piles rather than file it away then go for it. If you like your shelves open so you can see your items rather than concealed in containers then that’s great too.

Working against the way your lifestyle runs can makes this process very difficult and having to conform to a ‘one style suits everyone’ type of organising can be quite stressful.

So before you start to organise an area, think of how your family lifestyle impacts your home. For little kids, there is bound to be lots of toys around but restricting this to a specific area or play room may work better for you. If your family tends to dump everything around your front door then allocate an area just for this so things don’t get lost. You may prefer to keep your possessions to a minimum so you know everything you have while others may prefer to keep everything – even if they are packed away almost forgotten.

As long as the areas in your home are defined and your items are labelled if necessary, any style of organisation works.

Find what works for you then get started – one drawer at a time, one room at a time. And soon enough you will have the stress free home environment you really desire.

See you next time!

How To Delegate Effectively

It seems these days that there is just so much to do. At work, at home and not just for ourselves, but our kids as well. It’s no wonder that we always feel that we are rushing around during the day going a million miles a minute. Plus many of us can’t switch off at night to get some much needed rest, only to wake up exhausted the next day to do it all over again!!

Sometimes, delegating some of our tasks is just the only way to get things done.

But what should we delegate?

There is the obvious chores at home if you live with others. Even though you can generally do these things 50 times quicker and with less whinging, you need to learn to ‘let go’ if you want to get it all done.

Then there are those things that you can have a professional do for you. From cleaning to ironing, gardening to car detailing… although you have to pay someone you must remember that a professional can get these tasks done in a fraction of the time it will take you. Plus they have their own special tools of the trade required to do it – also a time and money saver. So money well spent I feel.

Some examples around the home or office.

  • Food delivery service – shopping centres can be a massive time waster, not to mention the money wasted when you purchase more than require. Most grocery stores deliver s9 why not order online and have it delivered when it suits you.
  • Gardener – lawns and gardens can be quite labour intensive so I feel hiring a garden is well worth the money.
  • Cleaner – I don’t need to explain the benefits of hiring a cleaner, but there are many!
  • Window washer – this can be especially helpful if you have a multi level home or a home with lots of windows.
  • Ironing – another despised chore that many are happy to delegate.
  • Babysitter – having your children looked after, even for a few hours, makes the world of difference in getting things done. Distractions are such a time waster and kids are happier when they’re occupied and entertained.
  • Handyman – these guys some with their own tools and are experienced in doing those things around the home so can do the jobs in a fraction of the time.
  • Car detailing – this task is to mainly upkeep the appearance of the car. Definitely a money saver when the time comes to sell or trade in your car.
  • Professional organiser – the benefits of this are endless. A professional organiser will not only get your home functioning better but can give you peace of mind.
  • And at the office… an Office junior, virtual assistant, Social media expert or Apprentice can free you up to get the more important things done.

We just cant do it all sometimes and there is nothing wrong with easing the stress and delegating some of our tasks to someone else.

See you next time!

How To Multi Task Effectively

Multi-tasking is the ultimate way to get more done in your day. And when I say multi task, I don’t mean putting on mascara as you’re driving to work.

The experts say that multi-tasking is ineffective as your brain can only really focus on one task at a time. But while that might apply to important tasks that require a great deal of thought, I find that multitasking a boring job, such as ironing, together with something enjoyable (like watching TV) then it distracts us from the task at hand. I might even say I look forward to ironing!

Examples of where I multi task.

Each morning I unstack my dishwasher as I wait for the coffee machine to make my coffee. I regularly have the washing machine running while I work on my computer in my home office. And folding my laundry is always done in front of the TV so I can catch up on shows that have been pre-recorded.

When I meal plan, I always make numerous meals and snacks at once. I figure that I’m already in the kitchen for a couple hours so I might as well use the oven to bake something while I’m stirring a pot – I even use the time waiting for meals to wash, chop and store my fruit and veg for the week.

Get started today.

While dinner is cooking, spend the 10 minutes you need to wait to do another task around the home. If you’re worried about time getting away from you while you are occupied elsewhere, then make sure that you set a timer to remind you to check that dinner isn’t burning.

By creating these habits, I have managed to get more done in my day – sometimes almost twice as much! This massive time saver is something we all need as we all seem to be running out of time each day trying to get everything done.

See you next time!

Using Suction Storage To Organise Your Home

Do you want to live in a more organised home? Or do you feel that a basket here or a hook there will solve your clutter issues? Do you even know that there are storage products available that are super simple to attach and can be repositioned numerous times to suit your needs?

These storage products are not just perfect for those who don’t like to DIY, but also those renting their property – where drilling holes in walls and tiles require approvals or professionals which can be time consuming or costly.

My go to product.

The White Hook i-hook storage system uses nano suction material to bind strongly to any smooth, sealed surface. Perfect for tiles or glass in the bathroom to store everything from toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner bottles or anything.

While I enjoy a DIY project, the thought of drilling through the tiles to attach a permanent fixture is a little daunting. So suction storage is definitely my go to in the bathroom or laundry.

Lots of products to suit your needs.

Storage products like the handy basket are great for the kitchen or laundry for those products that can make cupboards over cluttered. This way you can store your regularly used items in the easiest to reach areas.. and if you find that the position isn’t right, then you can remove and replace as required.

Hooks are perfect for items like jewellery or keys. The larger hooks even hold handbags or towels.

Suction storage is so simple to use that anyone can do it and incredibly convenient as it takes no time at all to make your cluttered areas organised.

See you next time!
